If you want a compact, fixed AR-15 Stock without a lot of bells and whistles, but you’re not willing to settle for an inferior product, the Phase 5 Tactical Universal Mini Stock may be the best candidate for the job. The Phase 5 UMS attaches easily to a wide variety of buffer tubes with simple set screws for secure attachment without additional hassle.
Phase 5 Tactical machines their Universal Mini Stock from high quality American 6061 Aluminum billet. It’s given a hardy black Mil-A-8625 Type III Class 2 anodized hard coat, for a finish that will stand up to whatever you put it through without peeling and flaking. There’s no cheap molded polymer here. This Mini AR-15 Stock weighs in at just 5.7 oz. That’s less than many “lightweight” polymer stocks on the market. It’s easy to carry and doesn’t add unneeded mass to your build.
The Phase 5 UMS is compatible with a range of Mil-Spec 6-position carbine receiver extensions and rifle length extension tubes, as well as their own HexOne and Hex-2 Buffer tubes. In fact, most cylindrical buffer tubes with outer diameters of 1.10 to 1.25 inches will work with this stock. For added security, you may wish to dimple cylindrical tubes to better accept the set screws when initially installing the Phase 5 Universal Mini Stock. Phase 5 wants you off the bench and back out in the world as soon as possible, so they include the set screws and hex key required for installation right along with the Universal Mini Stock.
**The Universal Mini Stock (UMS) is a universal mini stock to be installed on a rifle. Installing a stock on a "pistol" would be considered an SBR (short barreled rifle). If you have not paid the fees and received an approved tax stamp from the ATF, it will be illegal to possess an SBR.
