Radian is a very popular brand when it comes to AR parts and accessories, and their Model 1 rifles are some of the best they offer. Though the Model 1 complete upper receiver is available in multiple configurations, this one comes with a .223 Wylde chamber. It has a 10.5-inch barrel, modular handguard, gas system, and upper receiver. This complete upper assembly also has a charging handle and bolt carrier group. So, let's talk about the specs and features of this popular AR upper in detail.

Hybrid Chamber

Normally, it is not safe to shoot 5.56 NATO military rounds from a .223 Rem chamber. The difference between the two chambers is minimal, but using a 5.56 round in a .223 chamber can damage your rifle and be somewhat dangerous. However, .223 Wylde is a Hybrid chamber designed to safely fire both the 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington rounds.

Match Grade Barrel

This Radian Model 1 Complete Upper comes with a 10.5-inch match-grade barrel made from 416R Stainless Steel. It has a 1:8 twist rifling profile, which allows it to offer excellent ballistics with various .223 and 5.56 bullet profiles. Moreover, the polished crown on the barrel also adds to the accuracy of this barrel.

This barrel is threaded with a 1/2"-28 TPI thread pitch and comes from the factory with a pin and weld-ready Dead Air Flash hider. The barrel also has M4 feed ramps for improved reliability.

Super Reliable Low Profile Gas System

The Radian Model 1 Complete Upper uses a .750" low-profile gas block with a carbine length gas tube. With the 10.5-inch barrel, the carbine length gas system works perfectly. It results in a smooth and reliable operation of the bolt, with minimal tear and reliable reloading, even with subsonic ammunition and suppressed shooting.

Modern Modular Handguard

Any capable modern rifle needs to have a modular handguard that can be used to mount different accessories. The Radian Model 1 comes with a proprietary extended aluminum M-LOK handguard. This handguard attaches to the receiver using a steel anti-rotation pin, which ensures that the handguard and the accessories mounted on it hold zero.

High-end Aluminum Upper Receiver

The Radian Model 1 Receiver is made from billet machined 7075-T6 Aluminum. It features a forward assist and port door. Moreover, it is available in three different finishes: Radian Black, Flat Dark Earth, or Radian OD green.

M16 Profile Bolt Carrier Group

This complete Radian Model 1 Upper Assembly comes with a Radian Enhanced Black Nitride M16 Bolt Carrier Group. Made from case hardened 9310 steel, the bolt itself is also shot-peened to ensure the quality and strength of the steel. The carrier is made from Billet machined case hardened 8620 steel, and the gas key is made from 4130 steel.

The gas key is attached to the bolt carrier using 8-grade hardware and is properly staked to ensure a solid fit.

The bolt has a full-auto M16 profile. This doesn't mean it will make your gun full auto, but it has the same profile as a military M4. It is heavier and, therefore, results in longer locking delays, making the gun smoother and more reliable.

Raptor SD - Suppressor-Optimized Charging Handle

This complete upper also comes with a charging handle, the Raptor SD to be more exact. This charging handle is optimized to work with a suppressed gun, which means that it can redirect excess gasses out of the chamber to decrease wear on the internals of the rifle. The Raptor SD is also completely ambidextrous and has large profile latches for quick and easy engagement.
