This high-quality upper assembly includes a high-quality upper receiver, and a lightweight steel barrel, along with a modern and modular Atlas handguard. It is made to look good, and give you a smooth shooting experience with a premium feel.

Lightweight Barrel

The Aero Precision M5 Complete Upper Assembly incorporates a high-quality 18-inch stainless steel barrel, which is fluted to decrease its weight. Chambered in .308 Winchester, the barrel has a 1/10 twist rate and is equipped with a standard A2 style flash hider. The barrel also has M4 feeding ramps, which can assist in more reliable feeding of rounds. To ensure the high-quality standards claimed by Aero Precision, the barrel has also been HP and MPI tested.

Low Profile, Rifle-Length Gas System

The length and profile of your gas block can make a significant impact on the shooting experience and appearance of your rifle. This Upper receiver assembly features a low-profile gas block, which allows the use of a longer handguard.

To complement the long 18-inch barrel, this upper assembly features a rifle length gas system, which can actually make the rifle more reliable by decreasing the cyclic rate of the rifle and decreasing pressure on the Gas Key.

A Modern Handguard

This upper assembly features the ATLAS S-One handguard, which is one of the newest and most popular additions to the Aero Precision handguard lineup. To ensure rugged reliability and strength, the handguard is made from 6061-T6 Aluminum, which is very sturdy and lightweight.

The ATLAS handguard was designed for a lightweight build, and it features a limited Picatinny rail on the front and rear of the handguard for mounting sights, and the rail in the center is removed to decrease weight. You can also use the M-LOK slots on the Atlas S-One for mounting accessories.

If you want to attach a sling to your rifle, the S-One handguard also features QD sling attachment points at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions

Lightweight Upper Receiver

To complete this upper assembly, it has the Aero Precision M5 upper receiver, which is made from lightweight, but super strong 7075 T6 aluminum. If you are a person who prefers to have a forward Assist on their AR-15, then this receiver is a good option, it has a forward assist on the side, and a port door as well, to prevent dust and debris from getting into the chamber.

You also get a full-length Picatinny rail on top to mount optics, iron sights, or a carry handle if that is what you prefer.

The .308 receiver has a DPMS low profile design, which sits flush with the Atlas handguard, allowing for a more seamless appearance. Moreover, keeping with the lightweight theme of this paper assembly, the DPMS low profile receiver is also lighter than older high profile receivers.
