A Guide to the Best Glock Modifications

A Glock is more than a firearm. It’s a platform on which you can build your perfect gun. You can upgrade the parts themselves or add attachments such as optics and braces.

This opens the door to dozens of potential Glock accessories and mods. However, with so many ways to make your Glock your own, it can be hard to know where to start.

Thankfully, we have a whole team of experienced Glocksmiths here at Wing Tactical. Let’s get you started on your modding journey with your guide to the best Glock mods you can do.

1. Optics

This is one of the most simple Glock modifications you can do with the greatest payoff. Regardless of what kind of optic it is, the reticule of an aftermarket handgun sight is easier to line up on a target than iron sights. That means that your accuracy will not only improve, but it’ll also take less time to see and transition between targets. Follow-up shots will also be smoother.

The best part? It’s easy. For most optics, the only time you need to remove the rear sight is if the slide does not have an optic cut. In that case, you will have to remove the rear sight and install an optic mount adapter. Then, you can install your new optic, which can range from tritium-dotted Glock night sights to holographic red dot sights. The best optics for you depend on what you need from your weapon.

2. Laser Sight

Underbarrel Glock modifications for low-light environments like laser sights are another one of the best Glock mods you can add with the least amount of effort. Laser sights create a thin beam that goes from your handgun to your target. Having a red dot showing what you’re currently aiming at improves your accuracy and reduces the time it takes to acquire your target.

How difficult installation is will depend on what kind of laser light you install. Some aftermarket laser sights clip onto the trigger guard, which takes no more than a few seconds. However, if you want a more svelte setup, laser sights are installed onto the rail system of a Glock.

3. Flashlight

Like laser sights, flashlights help with target and sight acquisition in dark environments. However, flashlights illuminate the entire area in front of you. You don’t just see a dot where you’re pointing. You can see your target — and if you shine your bright flashlight on their face, they can’t see you.

4. Magazine Extension

Whether it’s your CCW or your duty weapon, stock Glock mags might not have the capacity you need. With extended Glock magazines, you can expand your capacity just by replacing the base plate of your mag. This Glock modification is quick and easy and gives you confidence in your firearm when you’re in a life-or-death situation.

5. Extended Magazine Release

Reloading costs time and points in a competition, and it could cost you your life in a defense situation. That’s why one of the best Glock mods is adding an extended mag release. With an aftermarket mag release, you can reach your magazine release and replace it with a new one faster than you could with a stock magazine.

6. Trigger Assembly

Stock triggers are excellent quality, but they’re not for everyone. Thankfully, you can find aftermarket Glock triggers that are drop-in replacements. Depending on the trigger you get, this Glock modification brings all-new features to your handgun. These include reducing friction, shrinking pre-travel when you pull the trigger, reducing trigger over-travel, and more. Of all Glock parts to swap, this one will have a huge impact on your shooting experience.

7. Aftermarket Slide

The best Glock mods allow you to add even more mods. With an aftermarket Glock slide, you can add more mounting points for red-dot attachments, larger optics, better iron sights, and more.

However, this Glock modification doesn’t just allow you to mount more attachments to your gun. You can also get slides with features like lightweight materials, improved textures for easier racking, and new muzzle designs that make holstering easier.

Plus, if you prefer something other than the look of stock Glocks, slides come cut in unique designs that range from angular to solid svelte. You get to improve your gun’s functionality while also building its aesthetic.
