Frequently Asked Questions

Are Ballistic Advantage Barrels Good?

Yes, Ballistic Advantage barrels are highly praised for their precision craftsmanship, durable materials, and a wide range of options, all backed by their Sub-MOA Guarantee for exceptional accuracy.

Does Ballistic Advantage make Mil-Spec parts?

Many of these barrels and upper receivers are made to meet Mil-Spec. Learn more about build specifications in each individual item listing.

Does Aero Precision own Ballistic Advantage?

As of 2014, Ballistic Advantage is a majority-owned subsidiary of Aero Precision, another industry-leading firearms components manufacturer. Wing Tactical is proud to offer parts and accessories from both brands.

Should you buy a complete upper receiver or build your own?

Both using a pre-assembled upper and building one yourself are reasonable approaches for assembling or customizing your AR-15. Complete uppers might be more cost-effective depending on your chosen specifications and brand, but this isn’t always the case. Using a pre-built upper will certainly save time during the building and parts-sourcing processes.

Which barrel length should you use on your AR-15?

Your choice of barrel length should depend on personal preference, your shooting applications, and your chosen caliber. Shorter barrels are lighter, but they can impact terminal ballistics for some calibers. Longer barrels can increase muzzle velocity (to a point), but they’re not practical for every shooting application (like maneuvering around corners in a home defense scenario). Talk to a Wing Tactical gunsmith for advice on choosing a barrel length.
